

Lieutenant Colonel Johanny Rodriguez, aged 53, was a devoted husband, father, and son. Born in the Dominican Republic, he immigrated to the United States as a child and was raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. The youngest of four children born to Flora and Fernando Rodriguez, he exemplified dedication and service throughout his life.
Johanny was a loving husband to his wife, Gisel, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage, and a proud father to four children: Jonathon, Sarai, Carina, and Jarel. His unwavering commitment extended beyond his family to his country.
In 1998, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably until his discharge in 2003 at the rank of Sergeant. Shortly thereafter, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. In total, he dedicated over 26 years of service to his country. His distinguished military career included deployments to Iraq, two consecutive tours in Kuwait, and service in Germany. For his exemplary performance and leadership, he was awarded multiple commendations, including the esteemed Bronze Star Medal.
LTC Rodriguez was a natural leader, known for his dependability, compassion, and unwavering sense of duty. He was deeply respected by all. Beyond his professional achievements, he will be remembered for his warmth, devotion to his loved ones, and remarkable sense of humor. His legacy of service and integrity will endure in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
