Marie Parente

Marie was born on June 17, 1925 on Staten Island, NY. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, “Nana”, sister, aunt and friend.

She spent most of her life in Rosebank, where she raised her family along with her husband Gregory. “Nana and Papa’s” house was a revolving door of friends and family. Whether it was just to stop by for some coffee and cake or some tomatoes from their beautiful garden, or to stay for one of their big Saturday dinners, they welcomed everyone with open arms and created beautiful memories for their visitors to carry with them.

When her husband Greg passed away in 2012, she moved into the Grant City home of her daughter Barbara (Considine) and son-in-law Tommy (deceased December 2016). They would later move to Mountainside, New Jersey where Barbara continued to care for her up until her very last day.

Marie enjoyed baking and trips to Atlantic City, but her greatest joy was spending time with her close family. In addition to her daughter, she cherished her time with her grandchildren Greg Parente and his wife Jennifer, Crissy Franzreb and her husband Jarad, and Tommy Considine, and her great-grandchildren, Gregory and Juliet Parente, and Ally Franzreb. She also adored her sister Elaine Murray and her oldest and dearest friend, Helen Picerno, along with her many nieces and nephews.

Her smile would light up the room when family and friends would come to visit. She was even known to break into song, especially “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” at Christmas time and “You Are My Sunshine”, along with the aides who helped care for her over her last years, Riolha, Marilou, Shirley, Marie and Jennifer, who she lovingly referred to as “her 5 girls”.

A visitation will be held at Casey Funeral Home, located at 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314, on October 14, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, located at 644 Clawson St, Staten Island, NY 10306, on October 15, 2025, at 10:15 am.

The committal will follow at Moravian Cemetery, located at 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306, on October 15, 2025, at 11:45 am.
