

Devoted uncle, substance abuse counselor
Michael Ventrone, 65, a lifelong Staten Islander, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born Jan. 8, 1953, in Mariners Harbor, Michael worked as a substance abuse counselor at Acadia Healthcare, Perth Amboy, N.J., for over 20 years.
He was a longstanding member of Narcotics Anonymous. He was a graduate of Port Richmond High School.
Michael is survived by four brothers, Thomas (Marilyn), Anthony, Vincent (Linda), and John (Donna).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Madeline Ventrone; his brother, Robert, and sister, Carmella.
He is survived by four nieces and nephews, Terri, Thomas, Lisa, and Vincent, and six great-nieces and nephews.
"My Uncle Mike was like no other. His humor and wit were uncanny. He gave us a lot of laughs. He adored his family and friends. He leaves a void that can never be filled," said his nephew, Vincent Ventrone.
Services will be Monday, Feb. 12, at Harmon Funeral Home, with visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and a service at 7:30 p.m.
