Born Muriel Hay in Scotland, she immigrated to the United States in 1948, moving to Bayonne with her family. She settled in Prince's Bay in the late 1960s.
Mrs. Basile worked for Verizon as a property manager in Brooklyn for 20 years. She retired in 2007.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also was fond of taking family vacations.
Her husband of 29 years, Michael, died in 1996.
She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne O'Gara and Maureen Patrissy, and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, West Brighton. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
