Patrick Ruane, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of age of 54 after a battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. He was surrounded by
the family and friends he cherished deeply. He was a devoted son, father, lifelong partner, brother, uncle, stepfather, and friend. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Jack, and his brother, Matthew.
Born and raised on Chesterton Avenue in Staten Island, Patrick was one of five siblings and later moved to Tottenville, where he continued to nurture his close family ties. A proud graduate of St. Charles Elementary School, Patrick went on to New Dorp High School where he excelled in football wearing the number “57.” He graduated from St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, earning a degree in Business Management. During his time there, he played left tackle wearing number “73” for “The Red Flashes” and was honored to be part of the esteemed four horsemen. Giants fan. He was an aficionado of red wine and a true culinary enthusiast.
His professional journey began in the equipment finance business with his brother, Kevin, for 15 years. He then went to work with his brother, John, on Wall Street as a floor clerk at Baker & Company. He later transitioned to a successful career in automotive sales where he worked for the past 20 years.
Patrick was known for his unwavering loyalty and quick wit, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His unforgettable personality touched countless lives, and he will be profoundly missed.
Patrick was a devoted son to Elizabeth, affectionately known as Betty, and a loving brother to Doreen, John, Kevin, and Matthew. Pat's commitment to family was both constant and unfaltering. His greatest pride resided in his children, Sean and Reillyanne, as well as his stepson, Eric, and his wife, Leanna. He is survived by his cherished children, his beloved siblings, his fiancé, Donna, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law and a wide community of friends
who were profoundly touched by his warmth and kindness.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home at 30 Nelson Avenue in Staten Island. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday,
October 8, 2025, from 3:30pm – 7:30pm. A mass in his honor will be celebrated at Saint
Thomas the Apostle at 6123 Amboy Rd, Staten Island at 10:30am on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
The family would like to thank all the amazing nurses, aides and therapists at Allaire Rehab & Nursing in Freehold as well as Swan Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Patrick.
