Roger Texier of Staten Island, NY, 88, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, intellect, and unwavering love.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion Texier (née Tange), with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership for more than 50 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared appreciation for art and culture. Roger is survived by his nine devoted children — Richard (Muna), Alma, Edna, Michael, Erica (Robert), Andrea (Matthew), Yvonne (David), Simone, and Renee (Matthew). He was also the cherished grandfather of nine and the adoring great-grandfather of one remarkable little girl, a title he bestowed on her with pride and affection.
Roger’s advanced education from Fordham University supported his lifelong love of books which shaped not only his career but his very essence. His passion led him into the world of publishing, where he worked for many decades before establishing his own business as a rare and antique book collector and reseller. Among his most treasured possessions was an extraordinarily rare, complete collection of the works of William Shakespeare — a collection he spoke of with reverence and joy.
Beyond his love for literature, Roger’s greatest joy was his family, he loved nothing more than being in the middle of a family get together, listening to all the lively conversations. His love however was not quiet — it was expressed openly, proudly, and often. Anyone who knew Roger knew of the deep pride he felt for his children and the profound impact they had on his life and he on theirs.
A man of deep faith, Roger was a dedicated Catholic whose belief guided his life with compassion, kindness, and humility. His commitment to his faith was a quiet but steady presence, shaping his relationships and his approach to the world.
Roger also had a lifelong love for the arts, finding solace and inspiration in classical music and opera. In their younger years, he and Marion would often attend performances in New York City, sharing a passion for the beauty and emotion of the stage.
Roger and Marion also shared a deep love for animals, and their home was rarely without the presence of many furry companions. Marion had a particular affection for dogs, while Roger had a soft spot for cats. Their love for their pets brought them great joy over the years, and their household was always filled with the warmth and liveliness that only beloved animals can bring.
Roger Texier was a man of quiet wisdom and great gentleness, whose love for his family and appreciation for the finer things in life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His desire to be surrounded by his family, quiet presence, his laughter, and his unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that Roger has been reunited with his beloved Marion — perhaps in a place filled with the music of their favorite operas, the pages of their most cherished books, and the loyal company of the pets they loved so dearly. And somewhere, we imagine him still gushing about his remarkable family and cheering on the Mets, his love carrying on in every word and every memory.
May you rest in peace, Roger, knowing that your story lives on.
