With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Rose Marie D’Elia (nee DeLorenzo), 93 who died peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Rose was born on January 18, 1932, in New York City to Dominick and Felicia DeLorenzo. Throughout her lifetime, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and artist.
As the eldest of five in a small Brooklyn apartment, Rose grew up by the side of her mother learning the traditions and recipes of her Italian heritage and loving the piano. After high school, she pursued her passion for design at the Traphagen School of Fashion while also working as a dressmaker’s apprentice in a bridal shop. Her creativity and determination led her toward a promising path in fashion but ultimately to a beautiful life with Vincent, a man who made every day an adventure. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising their three sons. While caring for their family, Rose reentered the workforce –first for the City Marshal, where she managed the office and later as a legal secretary for Roy Sparber, LLC and Vincent’s company, ITC USA.
She was a woman whose love for her family was deep and unwavering, always placing them at the heart of her world. She was especially essential in a crisis—calm, clear headed, and compassionate—a trusted confidant. With unlimited energy and a lively spirit, she brought warmth, laughter and light to every gathering. Through well-practiced traditions, family recipes and meaningful celebrations, she made every moment rich with love. Alfonse, Vincent, and Thomas were always fashionably attired in her hand-tailored suits. Her creativity flowed not only through her actions but also through her beautiful paintings, which reflected her soul and unique perspective. Her art, life philosophy, and elegant presence left a lasting legacy of color, compassion and joy. Anyone who met Rose was taken with her beauty, grace, and poise.
Rose’s saddest trials in life were the losses of her parents; husband, Vincent D’Elia Sr., her brothers, Joseph, Vincent, and Frank; her niece Janice and most recently, her beloved daughter-in-law, AnnMarie. She leaves behind her sons, Alfonse (Melissa), Vincent Jr. (Carol Ann), and Thomas D’Elia; her cherished grandchildren, Carolyn(Joel), Alexandra(Dan), Deanna(Julian), Jennifer(Edward), Alfonse, Alyssa(Steve) and Danielle(Michael); and her adored great-grandchildren, Steven, Charlotte, Jennifer, Gia, Enzo, and Henry. She also leaves behind her devoted sister and closest companion, Camille Arena (Henry), her sister-in-law, Diane DeLorenzo, as well as her loving nieces Valerie, Laura(Ken), Jennifer(Ryan), little Ava Camille, and Nicole, and nephews Henry J., Dominick, James, Daniel and Matthew.
For our family, we are comforted by the words of St. Anthony, “The life of the body is the soul; the life of the soul is God.” Rose now rests in God’s eternal peace, and her spirit lives on in the love she shared and the faith she embraced. Still, she will be missed.
