Salvatore Saldi

March 9, 1926 - September 1, 2022

Salvatore was a lifelong Staten Islander born to the late Giovanni and Calogera Saldi. He was raised in Port Richmond and graduated from McKee High School in 1944.

Sal served in the US Army in the Philippines and Japan from 1944 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged. After leaving the Army he began a career at Kinney’s Shoe Store. He retired as a manager in 1991.

Sal married the former Joan LaGattuta in October of 1957. They moved to their current residence in West Brighton in 1961. Sal enjoyed gardening, cooking Sunday dinner, & spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, his son John (Caroline Chant), daughters Ann (Daniel) Dubé, Jean Saldi (Dominic D’Ambrosio), and daughter-in-law Carol Saldi.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Saldi, Jenna Saldi, Laura Dubé, Grace, Maria, & Lila D’Ambrosio, Nicole Niford, & Christine Austin.

Sal was predeceased by his son, Peter J. Saldi, granddaughter, Elizabeth Mae Saldi, and sister, Jennie Favaloro.

In lieu of flowers donations to Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
