Lady B, where Steve spent time with his fellow crew members.

I enjoyed my time with Steve when crew on Lady B for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Besides the Navy he was also a Coastie. He will be missed.

Steve and I worked together with the Coast Guard and he was a wonderful shipmate. I very much appreciated his stories of his Navy days and learned a great deal from him as well. I'm most sorry to hear this and send my condolences to his family. A life well lived.

Mrs. Masterson I am so very sorry to hear of Steve’s passing he was a wonderful person and Friend. We were good friends in Pershing and Fort Hamilton he will always be remembered.Once again my sincerest condolences. George Goode

Steve Masterson
He was a great guy, loved to have fun. When we were kids he was really good at all forms of Baseball-slap ball, stick ball, stoop ball
and off-the-wall in the old Pershing School Yard.
He and his buddies Dave Hyman and Pat Lynch used to challenge
myself and my friends in a lot of friendly challenges. His group was
a little older; so, it was nice when we beat the "Older Guys".
Sometimes, for the slap ball games. We would get Aunt Dolly to
pitch for us because she could fluke the ball with the best. Aunt 
Dolly loved to raze Steve whenever she struck him out. Steve and
his friends would cry we were bringing in ringers.
Steve was a really great roller skater. Loved to skate every chance he got. He even tried out for the Roller Derby at the old SunnySide
Gardens in Queens.
Steve was a US NAVY Veteran 1964-1968 and was very proud of
his service. He continued to use his naval skills as part of the Coast 
Guard Reserves, He was active in community service with the
American Legion and VFW Posts. He even played "Santa Claus"
for the kids on many occasions.
I remember having a lot of good times at sporting events that
Uncle George took Steve and myself to. Hockey, Wrestling,
Baseball and Roller Derby.  We had a lot fun together Uncle
George called us the "Three Musketeers". 
Steve had a great interest in our Irish Ancestry and did a lot of
research. He also learned on his own to speak the Irish Language.
All around Steve was a great guy, I really enjoyed growing up with
him. He was like my older brother.
Steve will be missed very much.
May he rest in peace.
