Teodoro Mazzone passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Just two weeks shy of his 93rd birthday, he is survived by his wife of 75 years, Maria Mazzone (née Del Giudice), his son, Peter, his daughter-in-law, Millie, his granddaughter, Marisa and her husband, Marcus Maimone, his grandsons, Michael and Vincent Mazzone and his great-grandchildren, Sofia and Luca Maimone.
Teddy was born in the small town of Senerchia, in the province of Avellino, Italy. He was always his happiest roaming the mountains around his beloved town, watching over his family’s goats and sheep. Teddy married Maria in 1951 and they had their only son, Peter, a year later. Teddy, Maria and Peter immigrated to the United States in 1954 and resided in Hell’s Kitchen where Teddy worked as a butcher in the Meat Packing District. He started Teddy’s Meat Market in Manhattan in 1963 and was a community staple for 15 years. Teddy and his family moved to South Beach on Staten Island in 1976 and lived in the same house for 50 years, where he could always be found walking back and forth to his siblings’ houses in the neighborhood. In 1984, he began to work at his son’s business, Camelot Deli, as a butcher once again. Teddy could always be found behind the counter, talking with customers, playing lotto and sneaking food that Maria cooked in the kitchen.
Teddy was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of Holy Rosary Church and will always be remembered for his unyielding faith. Teddy loved nothing more than spending time with his brothers and sisters, drinking his homemade wine and eating his homemade dried sausage while watching Italian soccer and being near his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved telling them stories of Senerchia, singing to them in Italian and just being near them. Anyone who knew Teddy, knows he is at peace with his parents, brothers and sisters, walking among those same fields in Senerchia where he was the happiest of his life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 1 PM to 6 PM at Casey Funeral, 350 Slosson Avenue Staten Island, New York. His funeral will take place on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 9:30 AM at Holy Rosary Church, 80 Jerome Avenue Staten Island, New York.
“Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
