Born and raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn he attended St. Francis Xavier Grammar School, graduated from Xaverian High School, received a B.A. from St. John's University and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
Until his retirement in 2004, Mr. Callahan was a Criminal Investigator and Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration & Naturalization Service, and retired as the INS Regional Coordinator for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force for the New York/New Jersey Region. During his lengthy federal career he received numerous awards and citations from city, state and federal law enforcement agencies and was the recipient of the top-rated INS Commissioner's Meritorious Achievement Award from the U.S. Attorney General in Washington, DC. He was also a founding member of the Federal Criminal Investigators Association and a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, 2 loving children, Kelly and Brian, daughter-in-law Adriana, 3 adored grandchildren, Luke, Sophia and Emma, sister Patricia Pandolfi, 1 niece and 1 nephew, and his brother-in-law Thomas Munnelly.
