

Mr. Macaluso was a lifelong Staten Islander, born and raised in New Dorp. He served for 20 years as a patrolman with the NYPD at the Command Center on Jay Street in Brooklyn, N.Y., until 1986. After his retirement, he became the fire safety director of the Revlon building on Madison Avenue in Manhattan, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothea; his sons, Steven Macaluso and Joseph Mattia, and his daughter, Kim Birch; four grandchildren, Michael Birch, Courtney Booth, Morgan and Matthew Mattia, and three great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Stella and Wesley.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Castleton Corners. There will be a funeral service conducted during the visitation at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer's Association, SI, N.Y.
