Virginia Port

Virginia Port, age 73, of Great Kills, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. Virginia was born June 16, 1948. A native Staten Islander, born and raised in St. George, graduated from St. Peter’s Girls High School. She was a member of one of the first aquatic families and won numerous swimming titles. Virginia worked at Irving Trust Company before becoming a fulltime mother and wife. She enjoyed going to Broadway shows, family get-togethers, cooking and loved to read. Virginia is predeceased by her father, Henry Laide, her mother Mary Anne (Blake) Laide, her brother Brendan Laide as well as her brother in law Frank Fiorenza. She is survived by her loving husband Matthew Port, two sons Kevin (Denise) and Brian, two grandsons Christopher and Damon, sisters, Mary Fiorenza, Veronica (John) Steingasser, sister in law Marie Conway as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 12, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, 3315 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10306.
