

Mr. B.E. Newman, Jr., age 92 , passed away surrounded by his loving family, Friday August 14, 2015 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. Mr. Newman, a Bulloch County native, attended Nevils School. Mr. Newman proudly served his Country in the US Army; serving 3 years during WWII as a rifleman in the European Theater. After his military discharge he farmed and worked as a carpenter for a number of years. Until his retirement , he was employed as a forester for Fort Stewart Military Base . Mr. Newman was a member of both the VFW Post 10825 and the American Legion Post 90. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, travelling, making cane syrup every year, and spending time with his friends and family. Mr. B.E. will be fondly remembered as simple man and a family man who was loved by many, never having met a stranger. Mr. Newman was preceded in death by a son, Ben Newman and a grandson, Christopher Newman. Mr. B.E. was also preceded in death recently by his loving wife , Mrs. Annie Mae Newman . Mr. B.E. and Mrs. Annie Mae were seldom apart from one another during their marriage, having shared a very rare and special bond of love that lasted 67 years.
Mr. Newman is survived a daughter, Patricia Ann Wilson; a son, B.E. “Junior” Newman III, and his wife, Gladys; a brother, Barron Newman; a sister, Sadie Jenkins; Grandsons, Jonathan Newman, and his wife, Glenda; and Donnie Wilson; granddaughters, Anita Burke, and her husband, David; Amanda Collins, and her husband, Shannon; Kristy Hodges, and her husband John; and Christina Schanen, and her husband , David; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Caleb, and Ansley Burke, Katie and Kyle Collins, Natalie Hodges, Landon, Cole and Clay Wilson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 6pm-8 pm Tuesday , August18, 2015 at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Eason officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Hendley, Trey Hendley, Jimmy Jenkins, Benny Jenkins, Gerald Butler and Bobby Newman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the VFW.
