

Evelyn was a native and lifelong resident of Statesboro and Bulloch County, attended Westside School and graduated from Statesboro High School. She was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church and retired from J. C. Penney, where she was a sales associate. Evelyn enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and loved spending time with her family and helping people in need.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Worth and Mary Alma Akins Skinner, her husband, Alonzo Woods and brothers, Harry Lee Skinner and John Wesley “Johnny” Skinner.
Mrs. Woods is survived by her son, Jimmy Barnwell and his wife, Leann of Brooklet; daughters, Melinda Buchanan and her husband, Danny of Jacksonville, FL and Nora B. Willoughby and her husband, Jeff of Register; sisters, Jean Cartee of Statesboro and Dorothy Aines of Albany; grandchildren, Eric Buchanan and his wife, Stefanie, Jason Buchanan and his wife, Melissa, Christina Pucci and her husband, Brian, Kevin Barnwell and his wife, Whitney, Megan Huey and her husband, John and Lesli Willoughby; great-grandchildren, Karlee Buchanan, Addisyn Huey and Grant Buchanan; many nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Monday, December 11th in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home, immediately followed by the funeral service in the chapel officiated by Reverend Harry Sherrer.
Burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
