Jerry Wayne Waltz, age 46, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born in Savannah and had lived in Garfield for many years. He was a loving and funny man, who knew how to light up a room. He enjoyed spending time with his family and making sure everyone knew they were loved. Jerry was a wonderful, kind, brave and caring husband, brother, son, uncle, dad and friend and will never be forgotten. He loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and was a great roofer, a job that he took a lot of pride in. He is gone too soon, but will forever be remembered.
Mr. Waltz was preceded in death by his dad, John Waltz; brothers, Ricky Waltz and Lil John Waltz and daughter, Leslie Nicole Waltz.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Waltz of Garfield; mom and step-dad, Daisy and David Tilton of Register; sons, Justin Waltz and his fiancé, Chris Fallin of Leesburg, FL and Jerry Waltz, Jr and his wife, Crystal of Sylvania; grandsons, Lil Man and Hank; granddaughters, Haleigh and Alea; step-son, Robert Mills (Leslie) of Rocky Ford; sisters, Brenda Thompson and her husband, Alton of Metter; Penny Thomas and her husband, Kenny and Connie Horseman and her husband, Frank all of Statesboro. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home, immediately followed by the funeral service in the funeral home chapel with Reverend David Colburn officiating.
The burial will follow in the Bright Light Baptist Church Cemetery in Rocky Ford.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Thompson, Tyler Horesman, Anthony Thomas, Rod Carter, Jr., Robert Mills and Mark Lane.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Liz and Sandra, the wonderful hospice nurses and the whole hospice team at Ogeechee Area Hospice and a very special thank you to a special family member Theresa Collins, AKA Chub, for providing nursing care.
