

Joan C. Oliver, age 83, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was born in Cadwell, Ga., attended Georgia Teacher’s College and has lived in Statesboro for the last sixty years. Ms. Oliver was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, the Evergreen Garden Club, and the W.I.N.N. Investment Club. She worked for Burns Travel Agency for many years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, needlepoint, and china painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. “Gator” Oliver.
Survivors include her daughters, Nan O. (Johnny) Cobb of Gainesville, Ga., and Jill O. (Philip) McLain of Evans, Ga.; three grandchildren, Carrie C. (Michael) Nicholson of Cumming, Ga., Anthony (Brooke) Cobb of Woodstock, Ga., and Mallory M. (Robert) Yarbrough of Grovetown, Ga.; three great grandchildren, Presley Nicholson, Kennedy Nicholson, and Bennett Cobb; her brother, Jack Cameron of Dublin; her sister, Judy Crozier of Hawkinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:00 until 5:30 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be private.
