Mr. John Raburn Hagan, age 80, passed into eternal rest Thursday January 5, 2017 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility, surrounded by his loving family. The Screven County native was a deacon at the Goloid Baptist Church in Sylvania. He went to work as a young man at TH Lee and Roscoe Laircey and then went on to open his own business, John Hagan Plumbing and Electrical, in 1965 which he ran with his son Wayne in Statesboro. He was a man that could fix anything and loved working outside. If you ever came by his house you would most likely find him on his tractor with his wide brimmed hat and you could hear him humming a tune. He was a gentle and kind soul with an even bigger heart who loved to dance. He was a devoted husband who retired in 2001 to take care of his wife. Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the Church.” He embodied that verse taking care of his ailing wife for many years. He loved his family unconditionally and was always there to lend an ear or give advice. His grandson’s loved working outside with him and his great children found comfort in his lap. He was a God fearing man and he has now been given the gift of eternal life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Irene Chester Hagan, his parents John L. and Pam Hagan, brothers Wayne and Donald Hagan, and a sister Jackie Bazemore. He leaves behind memories to be cherished by his family, son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Teresa Hagan, daughter and son-in-law Larraine and Jerry Rushing ,all of Statesboro, a brother and sister-in-law Wendell and Rachel Hagan, and two sisters and a brother-in-law Alma Rita Hagan of Rocky Ford and Helen and Billy Stephens of Register, his grandchildren Alison and Jason McCormick, Brad and Vania Hagan, Colt and Lacey Rushing, Cory and Faren Rushing, Cade and Marley Rushing, and Cassidi Rushing, his great grandchildren Emma, Hagan and Hudson McCormick, Caleb and MacKenzi Hagan, Wren, Baylor and Hadley Rushing and his loving and devoted dog Gracie.
