Josephine Smith

Josephine was born and raised in Savannah attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church and graduating from St. Vincent’s Academy, in 1947. After raising her family, Josephine and her husband moved to Rincon, where they had lived for the past 23 years. She had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano by ear. Josephine was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother and wife and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Rosabella Cecilia Theodore Bremer Wells and 9 brothers and sisters.

Josephine is survived by her husband of 65 years, G. J. Smith, Sr. of Rincon; five children, Terri Boatright and her husband, Bobby of Statesboro; Gerald James “Jimmy” Smith, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Nebraska; Timmy Michael Smith of Springfield; Kenny Shannon Smith and his wife, Donna of Ellabell and Lori Rogers and her husband, Tracey of Ellabell; brother, Herbert Wells of Wilmington Island; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
