Lawrence Joseph Dixon

Lawrence Joseph Dixon, age 72, of Statesboro, died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.

He was born in Vincennes, Indiana, Feb. 18, 1939 and was the son of the late Theodore and Marie Samson Dixon. GySgt. Dixon retired from the U.S.M.C. in 1988 and Pratt/Whitney of Jupiter, Florida. Living in Statesboro the past six years, he was a member of the West Chatham Detachment of the Marine Corp League and a member of the Bulloch County Tea Party. He attended Indiana University and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; two sons, Mark of Riverside, IL and Keith of Columbus IN, a daughter, Shari of Tequesta FL; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
