

Mrs. Todd was a born in Douglas, GA to the late Florian Spencer and Ethel Bell Jones and graduated from Coffee County High School. Lillian married her husband, Johnny P. Todd, who was serving in the Navy during World War II. During his career in the Navy, they lived in many place in the United States and she became a devoted and loving military wife and mother. Once settled in Statesboro, Lillian became a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, led the church jail ministry and worked with the elderly in the church and community. Lillian was a published poet and was admitted to the Who’s Who of American Poets and had one of her poems presented at the inauguration of President Jimmy Carter. Lillian loved people and received much happiness through helping and being with people.
In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Jones Osteen and her brothers, Herbert Jones and Jake Jones.
Mrs. Todd is survived by her son, Larry K. Todd and his wife, Bobbie Ann of Fleming Island, FL; daughter, Johanna (Jody) Geerdes and her husband, John of Brooklet; sister-in-law, Evelyn Jones of Douglas; nephew, Derick Osteen of Waycross; Terry O’Neil, who she loved like a daughter, of Mandarin, FL; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2017 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Harry Sherrer and Pastor Sam Clay officiating.
A committal service and burial will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, in Douglas City Cemetery in Douglas, GA with Dr. John Geerdes officiating.
