

Margaret Gunter Clifton, age 87, passed away on Saturday, the 26th of March 2016 under the loving care of Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Ga. She was born in Chester, SC to Daisy and Lester Gunter and she was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She worked at Brooks Instrument in Statesboro, Ga., but most of her life was spent as a homemaker. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred Clifton; her mother and step-father, Daisy and Joseph H. Pye, Sr.; father and step- mother, Lester and Georgia Gunter; sisters, Frances White and Shirley Harper, and brothers, Alvin Gunter, Bobby Gunter, and James Gunter.
Survivors include a daughter, Freddie Clifton Law, Flowery Branch , Ga.; granddaughters, Nicole Stuart (Jason) of Sylvania, Ga. and Julie Thompson (Brad) of Flowery Branch, Ga.; six great grandchildren, Walker Stuart, Laura Stuart, Jeremiah Stuart and Georgia Beth Stuart, all of Sylvania Ga., Kinsleigh Thompson and Kaden Thompson of Flowery Branch, Ga.; sister , Patricia Royal (Woody); brothers, Billy Gunter (JoAnn), and Junior Pye (Sandra); sister-in-law, Mickie Hodges, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Sunday, March 27th at Hodges –Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jay Williams officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Donald White, Johnny Royal, Tim Pye, Bob Olliff, Randy Mosley, Tommy Jordan and Jimmy McCall.
