

Bob was a native and lifelong resident of Nevils and was retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service. He also worked with the U. S. Post Office for 8 years and in the heating and air conditioning business for 10 years. Mr. Iler was an avid deer hunter who loved to hunt with his friends and his dogs at the Lotts Creek Hunting Club. Bob was a member of the Statesboro Masonic Lodge, where he was Past Master and the Claxton Ezel Lodge, which he loved very much. Bob loved riding his four-wheeler and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harper J. Iler and Effie Keel Iler Parker; brothers, Johnny Iler, III; Kenneth Iler and sister, Betty Jane Shinaberry.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years and 8 months, Arleta F. Iler, who traveled with he and his boys during his Air Force career; sons, Robert Stephen Iler and Gary Wayne Iler (Diane); four grandchildren, Daniel Iler (April); Dylan Iler (Nicci); Hillary Iler and Angie Chambers (Rick); seven great grandchildren, Maddy, Macey, Payton, Johnny, Josh, Cody and Haleigh; 1 great great granddaughter, Chloe and 1 great great grandson, Chase, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 14, in DeLoach Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold (Shorty) Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, 10:00 AM until the funeral hour, in the church.
Pallbearers will be: Dylan Iler, Daniel Iler, Daniel Jackson, Dewayne Shinaberry, James E. Lanier, Jeff Jordon and Rick Chambers.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lotts Creek Hunting Club.
