

Born in Iredell County on September 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Blanche Taylor. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Troy Taylor, Jr. and two sisters, Pauline McDaniel and Aileen Clanton.
Mrs. Church enjoyed taking bus tours, spending time with her family on their vacations together and loved to go fishing. She attended Monticello Baptist Church.
She and her late husband, William Church, who preceded her in death in 1993, maintained the farm owned by G.L. Wilson Building Company.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie (Jerry) McFadyen of Winston-Salem, Barbara (Danny) Stroud, of Statesville, and Norma (Darrell) Gatton of Olin; one son, Perry (Martha) Church of Statesville; eleven grandchildren, Travis Tate, Christy Tate, Bobby Tate, Kristy Crocker, Brad Gibson, Brooke Gatton, Hope Johnson, Courtney Price, Josh Stroud, Jessica Martin and Seth Church; eleven great-grandchildren; two special friends, Geraldine Handock and Carolyn Sprinkle and her canine companion, Amber Jean.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Monticello Baptist Church and at other times are her daughters, Norma’s, residence.
The funeral service honoring Betty’s life will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday at the church with Rev. Bobby Henderson and Rev. Bill Pharr officiating. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Tate, Luke Martin, Todd Cranford, Bradley Gibson, Jerry McDaniel and Randy Clanton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Road Statesville, NC 28625.
