Brenda Current Swicegood, 76, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, in Statesville, North Carolina. She was born on April 13, 1948, in Iredell County, to the late Charles Sherrill Current, Jr. and Marie Summers Current. She was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Statesville and worked as a Deputy Clerk of Court in both Iredell County and Catawba County.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary O. Swicegood; son, Junior Bailey, and wife, Laurie Walker Bailey, of Stokes; daughter, Carol Ingbretsen, and husband Paul Ingbretsen, of Raleigh; grandsons, Walker Bailey, and wife, Madison Stagner Bailey, of Waynesboro, Virginia, Matthew Paul Bailey and Carson Garrett Bailey, both of Stokes; sister, Gay Current Shaver, and husband, Mike Shaver, of Statesville; and her beloved pets, Mr. Spock, Maddie, and Ally.
Brenda enjoyed spending time with animals and volunteering at the Godbey Creek Canine Rescue in Mocksville. She spent many relaxing hours knitting and loved going on retreats with The Friends of Carolina Fiber Retreats Knitting Group. She was always ready to go on a trip and to travel, especially to the mountains. Brenda also appreciated the arts and every genre of music. Most of all, she loved and supported her children, grandchildren, and family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at New Salem United Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Tony Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
