

She was born October 20, 1925, in Watauga County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Lillie Hampton and Roy B. Brown, Sr. She was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. She graduated from Davis Hospital Nursing School and went to become Head Nurse at Davis Hospital for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on June 29, 2012, by her husband, Dillard Lee Watson, whom she married September 12, 1960; and a brother, Roy B. Brown, Jr.
She is survived by a son, Jeff (Debra) Watson; a grandson, Joshua Watson; a granddaughter, Dara Gentry, all of Apex; a nephew, Blake (Ann) Brown and their son, Daniel, of Rutherwood, NC; and a cousin, Barry (Teresa) Hefner of Statesville.
Funeral service celebrating Dare’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 22, 2014, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
