Edith Eleanor Boyd Orrell

Born February 2, 1921 in Cornwell, SC, she was the daughter of the late George Milton Boyd and Selma Sides Boyd.

Eleanor spent many years working as an office manager and bookkeeper, in which she enjoyed. In her later years, she worked as a switchboard operator at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

She made and collected baby dolls, enjoyed quilting, crocheting and reading. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Wilson Orrell in 1984 and one daughter, Mary Rae Orrell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Stephen W. Orrell of Denver, NC, and Douglas (Betty) Orrell of Statesville; one daughter, Linda (Carlton) Rock, of Rosemount, Minnesota; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the fellowship hall of Concord Presbyterian Church.

The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Kyle Goodman and Rev. Dan Swan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
