

He was born in north Iredell County on November 20, 1934, to Elam Arrington Myers, Sr. and Luna Baker Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem and frequently attended his childhood church, Pisgah United Methodist Church in Iredell County. He attended Central High School and graduated from the American School. On September 24, 1955, he was married to Nancy Carolyn Bost of Terrell and Charlotte, NC.
He was with Salem Carpet Mills for 31 years as Senior Vice-President of the company in sales and marketing. In recent years, he has been associated with Billy Moose Companies of Statesville and Salisbury. He served in the National Guard and was a 32nd degree Mason. The family lived in Charlotte for 16 years, Chattanooga, TN, for four years, Statesville for two years, and Winston-Salem for 36 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Rhyne, Muriel Childers, and Margaret Morrison.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Catherine Myers (Joel) Furr of Mocksville and Elizabeth (Greg Miller) Green of Winston-Salem; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Wood (Charles) Fulk, Jennifer Wood, Michael Wood, Brian Wood, Rebecca Wood, David Green, Melanie Green, Kevin Green, Mark Green and Jefferson Green; a sister, Wanda Adcox of Statesville; two brothers-in-law, William “Bud” Rhyne of Statesville and Hugh Childers of Salisbury; and many friends and colleagues whom he treasured.
Mr. Myers requested a private graveside burial service with family and friends at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be his six grandsons: David Green, Kevin Green, Mark Green, Jefferson Green, Michael Wood, and Brian Wood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Godfrey, James Woods, Billy Moose, Tim Cook, the Rev. Bob Harris, James Foster, Charles Johnson, Greg Miller, Joel Furr, Steve Rhyne, Brandon Brown, Gene Foy, Danny Adams, Dale Brown, Jeff Moose, David Mayfield, and Aaron Baker.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville.
