

She was born September 23, 1915, in Cocke County, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret Gray Justus. She resided in Salisbury with her husband, Horace J. Ervin, who preceded her in death in 1971. She then moved to Newport, Tennessee, to live with and help care for her sister until she passed away in 2000. She later moved to Carolina village Retirement Home in Hendersonville. She was a retired lab technician with Carnation, Superior and Rowan Dairies and was the oldest living member of Cleveland First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Frances Smith Deal; four sisters, Myrtle Justus, Mary Russell, Ilalie Moore and Shirley Ponder; and five brothers, Royal Gray, William Edgar, Alfred Swann, Rupert Hamilton and Robert Jehu Justus.
She is survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral service celebrating Frances’ life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2014, at Cleveland First Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Dancy officiating and Amy Tolbert Wilhelm singing.
The family will speak with friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
