

Gladys Ruth Stovall Turner, 67, formerly of McLaughlin Street in Statesville, and more recently of Cleveland, died Sunday November 27,2011 at Rowan Regional Medical center in Salisbury. Born in Iredell County on August 12, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Mangrum Stovall and Virginia Jones Stovall. She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Community Baptist Church. She was an avid basketball player having played at Morningside High School and she enjoyed cooking, dancing, singing and her family. She was raised by Grady (Jack) and Ruth Stovall, both of whom are now deceased.
Survivors include a son, Victor (Luckie) Stovall of Cleveland, daughters: Natalie (Harvey) Turner of Statesville, Vickie (Carl) Saddler of Statesville and Tracy (Robert) Mott of Greenville, S.C., brothers: Thomas Ray Jones, Larry Stovall and Ricky Stovall all of Statesville and a sister, Peggy (William) Jackson of Charleston, S.C Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a special aunt, Margaret Stovall Campbell and a special grandson she raised, Randall "Disco" Stovall.
Services celebrating Gladys' life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. I.N. Pettis officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will gather at the home of Natalie Turner at 1024 McLaughlin St. Statesville.
