

Mr. Gordon Henry Kliese, 72, of 3543 Carrington Lane, Statesville, died June 24, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Brooklyn New York on March 25, 1939, he was a son of the late Walter Kliese and Anna Breden Kliese.
Gordon was a retired IBM engineer and served in the U. S. Army. He served as a volunteer fireman and an emergency medical technician (EMT). He was a councilman and supervisor for the town of New Baltimore, N.Y. and was a Master Mason and a member of the Statesville Shrine Club. He was a councilman and treasurer of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Statesville and was dedicated to the welfare of children all of his life. He loved to travel, loved carpentry work and to spend time with family and friends.
On November 28, 1990, he married the former Mary Stella Marsico who survives. Also surviving are five daughters: Kelly Knudsen and her husband, Robert of Statesville, Shannon Sutton of Hawaii, Juliana Kathman and her husband, Steve of Statesville, Elizabeth Shevlin and her husband, Patrick of Hilton Head, S.C. and Susan Pretramali and her husband, Bruce of New York. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Eli Knudsen, Malia Elmer, Brad Kathman, Megan Shevlin and Thomas Shevlin.
Services celebrating Gordon's life will be conducted at 11:00 Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Dovenmuehle officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church and private burial will take place in the National Cemetery in Salisbury. At other times the family will be assembled at the residence.
