James Hoyt Piercy

Mr. James Hoyt Piercy, 79, of Statesville, died July 19, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on July 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Ray Alexander Piercy and Hortense Marley Piercy. Mr. Piercy was a former restaurant owner and operator and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On December 17, 1984, he married the former Margaret Forbes who survives.

Also surviving are 3 sons, James H. Piercy, Jr. and his wife, Sherry and Philip S. Piercy all of Kentucky, and Timothy A. Piercy of California, a daughter, Lenoir Jean Riggsby and her husband, David also of Kentucky, 3 step sons, Richardson C. Bell and Robert E. Bell and his wife, Traci all of Virginia and John A. Bell of Statesville and a step daughter, Connie Bauswell and her husband, Steve of Virginia.

Also surviving are a brother, Edgar Piercy and his wife, Margaret of Florida, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Services celebrating Mr. Piercy's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. J. C. Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
