

Phil Waugh, 70, of 619 Turnersburg Hwy., Statesville, died March 6, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Iredell County, born October 10, 1939, a son of the late Wilburn Foy and Kathleen Wilhelm Waugh.
Phil and his wife, Norgen Wilhelm Waugh just celebrated their fiftieth anniversary on February 6th, 2010.
Also surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter: Kimberly Waugh of Statesville, three grandchildren; Jeffery, Kyle and Crissy and his special "daughter" Lacie. Sisters-in-law surviving are Ruth Barkley and Louise Flinchum, and two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Wilhelm and Ren Wilhelm, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Waugh was a retired wrecker driver doing a job that he loved. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always being there for his family and his many friends, never having met a stranger. He was an excellent gardener, sharing his garden with neighbors, family and friends. He attended Scotts High School and was a member at East Side Baptist Church.
Funeral services celebrathing the life of Mr. Waugh will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Otis Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
