Mr. Jesse Franklin Hawkins

Mr. Jessie Franklin Hawkins, 76, of 103 Stem Lane, Statesville, died Tuesday March 9th at his home. Born in Wilkes County on March 18, 1933, he was a son of the late Dowell Hawkins and Bonnie Shoemate Hawkins. He was a truck driver for ProSeal and a member of Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and tinkering with old trucks.

He was preceded in death by his former wife and best friend Sylvleen Elliott, and sisters, Marie Roney and Ruth Blackburn.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Becky Tayse and her husband, Jay of Statesville, grandchildren, Jesse and Wayne Tayse, step children, Wayne Campbell and his wife Donna of Statesville and Linda Waugh and her husband, Greg of Statesville.

Services celebrating Mr. Hawkins' life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 15th at Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor David Walters and Pastor Jody York officiating. Private burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
