He attended Monticello United Methodist Church and retired from Sara Lee in Statesville.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Donald Glenn Gantt.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Young Gantt, of Statesville; daughter, Michelle Anderson (Lynn), of Statesville; and grandsons, Ty Anderson, and Lucas Anderson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Steve Small will officiate. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
