John Edward Hall Jr.

He was born April 3, 1945, in Statesville and was the son of the late John Edward Hall, Sr. and Leona S. Hall. John graduated from Morningside High School then studied accounting at Catawba Valley Community College and later served in the U.S. Army. As a young man, he was a member and trustee at St. John Baptist Church before joining Holsey Memorial CME Church. John was married to Rose Hall for twenty-seven years who survives.

He is survived by his two children, Patrick C. Hall and wife Nicole of Houston, TX; Avis H. Gaither and husband Shawn of Statesville; three precious granddaughters, Kionah & Kahleah Gaither, and Taylor Hall (who subsequently joined him in Heaven on Wednesday, April 13, 2011). He is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth (James) Brown and Marjorie (Lonnie) White both of Statesville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A service to celebrate the life of John Hall will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011, at St. John Baptist Church with Rev. Burrell Brooks officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at the church prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
