Judith “Judy” Ann Dachtler Stallings, 79, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully under hospice care on December 23, 2025, surrounded by love. Those who knew Judy will remember her for her joyful spirit, unwavering faith, and her ability to find light even in life’s hardest moments.
Judy was a devoted Christian who radiated peace and compassion. She never had a harsh word to say and always seemed to find a way to bless those around her—whether with her comforting meals, a batch of cookies, or one of her famous lamb cakes. She loved searching for small treasures at garage sales and thrift shops, though she rarely bought anything for herself. Her mischievous smile, loud whistle, and an occasional wink could brighten any room. And when football season came around, everyone knew—Go Bucks!
Born on June 1, 1946, to Edward and Violet Dachtler, Judy lived a life rooted in love and generosity. She shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with her loving husband, David Stallings. Though she spent many of her retirement years on the Carolina coast, Statesville was her final home.
Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, David; their children and spouses, Kim (Stan) Turner, Kevin (Melissa) Stallings, and Keith (Andrea) Stallings; and by dear friends who became family, Tony (Vikki) Stember and Bill Dean. Her love will continue to live on through her grandchildren—Katrina (Kyle) Sumer, Nicole (Bret) Schoening, Seth Stallings, Kayley Stallings, Jordan (Grace) Stallings, Evan Stallings, Makayla Stember, Kyrsten Stember, and Josh Stember—and her great-grandchildren Isabella, Jackson, and Hadassah. She is also survived by her brothers, Ron (Audrene) and Joe (Janice) Dachtler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Ed (Jan), Dick (Mary), Doc/Bill (Barb), Frank (Donna), and Arletta (Steve) Saraga; and her grandson, Caleb Stember.
Anyone who knew Judy can tell you—her kindness left ripples that will continue to spread through her family, friends, and community. She had a gift for making others feel loved and her gentle spirit made the world a better place.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Agape Life Family Church in Richlands, North Carolina. Friends and family are invited to come share memories, laughter, and love in her honor.
