Marie Bumgarner Mills

She was born January 29, 1926, in Catawba County, NC, and was a daughter of the late J. Gaither and Lula Goodman Bumgarner. She retired from Bali in 1986.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on November 25, 2010, by her husband, Stamey Mills, Jr., whom she married on June 11, 1943; a son, Ronald Wayne Mills; two sisters, Fannie Bell Bumgarner and Martha Rhinehart; five brothers, Edward, Homer, Willard, Lloyd and Clyde Bumgarner.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Ammon of Statesville; a son, Roger Dale (Kay) Mills of Mill Springs, NC; four grandchildren, Shanda Ammon, Lynn (fiancé, Amanda) Ammon, Erica Mills and Darren (Amy) Mills; and seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Alishia, Anna, Isabella, Camren, Savanna, and Chayton.

Funeral service celebrating Marie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Corbell officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will gather at the residence.
