Martha graduated from Scotts School in Statesville, NC, and after being in the workforce for 35 years, she retired from Burlington Industries. She was also a lifelong member of Marvin Methodist Church in Stony Point, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Arthur “Art” Brotherton; granddaughter, Lori Campbell Hamilton; brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Waugh; and sister, Shirley Huffman.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Wanda Brotherton Kress, and Patricia Day Hinkle; grandchildren, Kimberly Campbell Hutton, Zackary Alan Hinkle, Alana Dawn Baker, James Brotherton, and Crystal Brotherton Gibson; great grandchildren, Sydnie Nicole Hutton, Christian Cole Hutton, Vincent “Vinny” Johl Hamilton, and Blakely Belle Seabright; brothers, Marvin “Mutt” Waugh, Sr., and William Bryant Waugh, Sr.; and sister, Mary Jean Summers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February, 2, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Marvin Methodist Church. A service to celebrate Martha’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Rob Waugh, and Pastor Jerry Rogers officiating.
