

Survivors include her brothers, William Marshall Evans of Morganton, Kenneth Edward Evans and wife, Helen, of Mead, Washington; special niece, Jane Dale Denny of Conover and special cousin, Margaret Evans Gayle, her husband Ted and daughters, Tanya Gayle and Pamela Jones of Atlanta, Christy Gayle of Reidsville and Laurie Gayle of Raleigh. She is also survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Paul R. Kearns, MD, Statesville, her brother, Gene Dixon Evans, sister, Betty Evans Dale and parents, William Andrew Evans and Beulah Powell Evans, predeceased her.
Mrs. Kearns graduated from Morganton High School and Henry Grady Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA. She served as a registered nurse at Marion General Hospital and as a public health nurse for McDowell County Health Department. She graduated from Wake Forest University Medical Center in the Nurse Anesthesia Program in 1966 as a Certified Register Nurse Anesthetist. She worked as a Nurse Anesthetist at Iredell Memorial Hospital, where she met her husband, Dr. Paul R. Kearns. She also worked in hospitals in Catawba and Cabarrus Counties. She was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Mrs. Kearns was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville, where Reverend Brad Mullis will conduct a memorial service on October 27 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
