Ned Rash

At his house and surrounded by loved ones, Mr. Ned Rash, 81, of 3828 S. Chipley Ford Rd., Statesville, went peacefully to his Heavenly home on Monday, June 10, 2013 at his home. Born in Ashe County on November 4, 1931, he was a son of the late Nathan Rash and Molly Lewis Rash. Ned was a retired breeder manager in the poultry business and loved farming, particularly his cattle and garden. He was a graduate of N.C. State University having received his B.S. and M.S. degrees focusing on poultry science and was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and volunteered for mission work including several mission trips and in the food pantry. He was also an avid supporter of North Iredell High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Ned's love for life was only surpassed by his love of faith and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former JoAnn Harless in 2002.

Survivors include a son, Nathan Rash and his wife, Mary Jane, a daughter, Dr. Kathy Rash Haywood all of Statesville, a brother, John Ila Rash of West Jefferson and a sister, Hazel Rash of Towson, Maryland. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jacob Rash (Lauren) and Addie Haywood, a great grandchild, Fletcher Rash, a step grandaughter, Tamara Pendleton (George) and their children, Tate, Georgia and Madison and his very special friend, Mary Hunt.

Services celebrating Ned's life will be conducted at 11:00 Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Porter officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will follow with graveside services at 3:30 at the Lewis (Buffalo) Community Cemetery in West Jefferson.
