

Mr. Richard Franklin Shoemaker, 77, of Statesville, died Wednesday evening, January 19th at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Iredell County on March 13, 1933, he was a son of the late John Banks Shoemaker and Ruth Stroud Shoemaker. Mr. Shoemaker was a retired printer from Hung Mfg. Co. and served in the U. S. Army. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of V.F.W. Post # 2031 of Statesville. On February 16, 1957, he married the former Lillian Trivette who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Ricky Franklin Shoemaker and his wife, Amy of East Bend, NC, Randy Dale Shoemaker of Hamptonville and John Clinton Shoemaker of Statesville, along with a sister, Mrs. Betty Bolin of Statesville, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services celebrating Mr. Shoemaker's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Otis Johnson, Jr. and Rev. Johnny Bolin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military rites presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail. Pallbearers will be: Rev. Johnny Bolin, Gary, Corey and Kenny Fox, Wesley Feimster, John Sharpe, Rick Osborne and Derrick Cornett. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent on line to the family to www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
