Vallie Mae Oglesby

She was born in Iredell County on March 6,1944 to the late Thomas and Anna Belle Davidson.

Val was a 1962 graduate of Unity High School.

Mrs. Oglesby is survived by her husband Odis Oglesby; son, James Gibbs (Charity) of Harmony, NC; daughters, Wanda Dalton (Billy), Deborah Gibbs, and Donna Gibbs all of Statesville, NC; sister, Barbara Sue Davidson; brother, Larry Davidson; step-daughters, Tamika Smith, and Quanda Sharpe both of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Valneka Gibbs, Anthony Gibbs, Mario Gibbs, James Hargrove Jr., Billy Dalton Jr., Anessia Steele, and Nushya Dalton; special nieces, Shanti Mitchell and Tiffany Oglesby; sister-in-laws, Gloria Stevenson. Beverly Adams, Correll Johnson, and Valerie Rivers; brother-in-laws, Leon Rivers (Kim), and Anthony Rivers (Darlene) all of Statesville, NC. As well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who she loved unconditionally.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Emma Campbell; brothers, Tom Davidson Jr., Roy Davidson, and Jimmy Davidson; mother-in-law, Lucille River; and sister-in-law, Deborah Oglesby.

A visitation for Vallie will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville, NC 28677, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. in the Westmoreland Chapel of the funeral home.
