

Born in Haywood County on December 3, 1940, he was a son of the late Howard Reece and Eulalie Inman Reece. Wayne was disability retired from Hunt Mfg. Co. and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading his Bible, gardening and mushroom hunting. On January 23, 1965, he married the former Fannie MaHaffey who preceded him in death on November 24, 1993, and whom he missed dearly and spoke of daily.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Tammy Huie and her husband, Chris, of Olin, and Mrs. Wilma Muntz and her husband, Wesley, of Statesville. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Abigail Leigh Muntz, Forrest Alexander Muntz, Whitley Faith Huie, Heather Dawn Huie and Jake Wyatt Huie. Additional survivors include three brothers, Wade Reece of Statesville, Jack Reece of Olin and Ray Reece of Canton and three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Moore, Mrs. Linda Bell and Mrs. Jeroline Ball all of Statesville.
Services celebrating Wayne's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM. Wednesday at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. J. C. Parks and Rev. John Parks officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will assemble at the residence of the deceased and will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
