Willie Joe Johnson

He was born April 14, 1936, in Watauga County and was the son of the late Ralph C. and Selma Baird Johnson. He was a retired furniture worker and a charter member of Temple Baptist Church.

Joe is survived by two daughters, Debra Johnson McKinney (Bill) of Statesville and Melanie Johnson Stroud (David) of Mocksville; a son, Michael Joe Johnson of Statesville; two sisters, Nell and Phyllis Johnson both of Boone; a brother, R.C. Johnson of Boone; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Clara Lindsey of Statesville.

Funeral services celebrating Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. J.C. Parks and the Rev. Glenn Sellers officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Monday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
