Linda Flory Stout

She was born Jan. 4, 1945 in Staunton, daughter of the late David and Bernice Whitesell Flory.

Linda was a graduate of Bridgewater College and a direct descendant of its founder, D.C. Flory. Linda taught school for four years until the birth of her first child. She raised two daughters before returning to work at Bridgewater College in the Office of Admissions. She became director of admissions for Bridgewater College, retiring in 2011.

She was active in the Church of the Brethren, first at Middle River Church of the Brethren in New Hope and more recently at Lebanon Church of the Brethren in Mount Sidney. Linda enjoyed bird watching, trips to the beach and playing cards with friends. She was an outstanding cook. She valued family above all else and in retirement enjoyed her grandchildren to the fullest.

Survivors include two daughters; Lynn Stables and husband, Mark, of Staunton and Shari Stout of Falls Church; two grandchildren, Bella Mae and Eva Clare; one brother, Donald C. Flory and wife, Sharon, of Mount Sidney.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at the Lebanon Church of the Brethren in Mt. Sidney with Pastor Jimmy R. Ross officiating.

The family will receive friends at her residence in the afternoons and at the church following the service.
