Born December 22, 1953 in Virginia, he was a son of the late Spurgeon Garfield Hudgins, Sr. and Mary Virginia (Cox) Hudgins. On July 25, 1998 he married Sandra Caracofe. The two shared 27 wonderful years together.
Spurgeon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and off-road trail riding in his Jeep.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra C. Hudgins; three children, Spurgeon G. Hudgins III (Angie) of Vesuvius, Christina Botkin (Lloyd) of Staunton, and Matthew Brian Hudgins (Ashtin) of Staunton; stepson, Allen Wade Harper of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, Ashley Thurston, Sierra Hudgins, Wyatt Hudgins, Brooklyn Hudgins, and Lincoln Hudgins; and great-grandson, Kayden Fitzgerald.
Following cremation, there will be no formal services.
