Carol Sue (Ashcraft) Thomas, 83, of Oak Hill, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, following a brief illness. Her family was grateful to be by her side, sharing cherished memories and laughter as they said their goodbyes.
Carol was born on January 4, 1943, in Newark, Ohio to Denzil “Denny” Ashcraft and Virginia (Davis) Ashcraft. Carol graduated Columbus Business School and later the United Air Lines Stewardess Training Center. In the mid-1960s, she proudly served as a United Air Lines stewardess. Following her time in the friendly skies, Carol built a successful career in accounting, ultimately retiring after many dedicated years with Pohanka Automotive Group.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Laura (Daryl) of Aldie, VA, and her beloved grandchildren, Katie and Jack. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Tom, and her devoted husband, John.
A visitation will be held on May 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by funeral services at Demaine Life Celebration Center of Loudoun County, located at 45511 E Severn Way, Sterling, VA 20166. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Carol in a way that reflects her joyful spirit, by raising a glass to toast your favorite memory of her. Donations may also be made to a charity of your choice, Wreaths Across America (a cause she personally supported), or to Heartland Hospice (The Gentiva Foundation), whose compassionate care brought comfort and peace in her final days.
