Sending my thoughts and prayers.  I worked with Denise. She was a beautiful person and will be remembered fondly.

Although I wasn’t that close to Denise, I do know that she loved her family very much, which included her husband Librado, and was a very hardworking and intelligent woman and I am proud to have known her. My prayers and positive vibes,  go out to her husband Librado, her mother and brothers Steve and Ricky, including other family members and very close friends. Lastly, May Denise’s soul rest in eternal peace. 🙏🏽

Denise was a phenomenal woman. To have known her in this life made one fortunate. I was. 
We met at the U of I. while we were working on becoming the women we wanted to be in the future. I recall she had a wicked sense of humor, excellent taste in music (classic Cinnamon Girl indeed), a discerning mind and an acute detector for untruths. She was friendly, a good networker and had a strong commitment to social accountability.  
I admired her success, both career and personal. She and Libo figured out the mysteries of love and life together.  A lovely life well lived. 
I wish Libo and the rest of her family peace in the days to come.

To Libo and Denise's remaining family,

 I am so very sorry for your loss and the loss of Denise's friendship and as a former colleague. Denise and I worked closely together at the Office for Civil Rights until I left in January 2016. I enjoyed working with her and respected her skills and knowledge as an attorney and her work ethic. We were not only colleagues but friends. I have missed her since I left OCR. This is a great loss. I hope she did not suffer.

We moved next door to Denise and Libo 18 years ago and have enjoyed every moment of being their neighbors.   Michelle particularly treasured conversations with Denise when they met on the train into the city or at the station and talked law and politics.  Denise had such a wonderfully dry and droll sense of humor.   Our hearts are heavy and we wish all the peace and comfort possible to 
 Libo and their families at this difficult time.

So very sorry for the loss of a wonderful co-worker. Denise was fun to chat with and was dedicated to our office mission. She will be missed. May she rest in peace. Sending prayers to her loved ones and friends that they may find peace and comfort.
