

Louis J. Kammerer passed peacefully on Monday, February 14th. He was born March 19th, 1929 and graduated from Crane High School Class of ’47, where he played Football, Pole Vaulted on the Track Team, and was the City of Chicago Speed Skating Champion. He continued with Football and Pole Vaulting at Wright Jr. College and Football at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio Class of ’52 as a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He proudly served his country as a Sgt. in the 278th Regimental Combat Team during the Korean War.
Lou was married to Rosemary (Moscato) for 56 years until she passed. They are survived by daughter, Nancy, (Don Vahldick) and son, Louis A. (Kristin Sederholm). He was adored by his grandchildren, Kristin & Lauren Vahldick, and Nikita Kammerer.
He owned and operated L-K Fire Extinguisher Service Co. for 50 years. He also served as a Village of Stickney Reserve Police Officer for 24 years, and was a member of the Stickney Police Association since 1954. Lion Lou had been a member of the Stickney – Forest View Lions Club since 1958.
Papa Lou loved spending time at his Summer Home on Pine Lake in Westfield, WI with his kids and grandkids.
Visitation will be Friday, February 18th from 4 – 8 pm at Mount Auburn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4101 S Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, IL 60402. Saturday, February 19th has a Visitation at 9 am followed by a funeral service at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
